Essential Oil Roller Recipes
Essential oils are volatile, which means they evaporate rapidly and contain the natural smell and characteristics of the plant. This can make them too strong to apply undiluted. Carrier oils do not evaporate or have a strong aroma, making them the perfect pair for diluting especially strong essential oils—reducing the concentration of the essential oil without altering its therapeutic qualities. When you dilute an essential oil with a carrier oil, you can also control its concentration before applying.
Why I love using rollers to apply essential oils topically:
Versatile - I can make my own blends & dilute the oils to my preference using a carrier oil.
Easy - Rollers are perfect for throwing in my purse or diaper bag. When we’re out and about, it’s an easy application!
Effective - Carrier oils help essential oils absorb into my skin better & faster.
Lasts - It’s a great way to extend the use of my oils (and saves me money)!
Create Your Own Roller:
I prefer to recycle empty 15-ml oil bottles because I typically have them on-hand. If you don’t have any empty bottles, these are a great alternative.
For 15-ml bottles, I typically use a total of 30-40 drops of essential oils. Recipes are flexible, which I love! Add more or less of an oil depending on your preference.
Top with carrier oil. I use all-natural fractionated coconut oil like this one.
Add roller fitment to bottle. I use these fitments designed specifically for Young Living bottles (5 or 15-ml).
Roll on desired area. When in doubt, roll on bottom of feet, spine or behind your ears.
