Eclectic Library/Family Room
A friend of mine asked me for a consult on their new space. They recently added a bedroom in their basement for their oldest daughter, stealing away space from a large family room. They would love this new common area in their basement to be made into a library / family room. Right now, it collects a little bit of everything and isn’t utilized as best as it could be.
Inspiration Board
For this space, I think the most important thing will be functional, organized storage. My friends have some of the coolest pieces of art, antiques and collectibles. I cannot wait to shop their home when we are ready to style it!
Here’s my vision board for the space. Notice it’s fairly neutral? Intentionally so. I chose large pieces of furniture and textiles to remain neutral, so we can add the color and personality with their own home goods. The space will be filled with a lot of books, and without much natural light, we don’t want the space to become too busy.
